“GCAC...Fostering a Lasting Legacy Through Friendship and Service”

On behalf of the officers and members of the Gulf Coast Apollo (TX) Chapter (GCAC) of The Links, Incorporated, WELCOME and THANK YOU for visiting our virtual home.

We encourage you to peruse our website, where you will find the most current information on our chapter; who we are and the work we are doing to enhance the quality of life for underserved children, families, individuals, and communities in the Clear Lake, Galveston, Bay Area, and internationally.

Chartered in 1946, The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation.  The membership consists of more than 17,000 professional women of African decent in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom.  It is one of the nation's oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.  The Links, Incorporated is built on the tenants of Service and Friendship and our organization contributes more than 1 million hours of community service annually.  For more info visit www.linksinc.org.

On October 7, 1995, the Gulf Coast Apollo (TX) Chapter became the 52nd chapter of the Western Area, and the 262nd chapter of The Links, Incorporated.  Our chapter is an extremely talented and gifted community of 55 women who hail from a broad span of professional and business entities.  We are corporate leaders, physicians, astronauts, accountants, project managers, educators, consultants, politicians, homemakers, attorneys, engineers, scientists, social workers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and nonprofit executives who are committed to providing transformational, sustainable and impactful programs.  These programs are aligned with the (5) program facets of The Links, Incorporated which include Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services and Health and Human Services.  Over the past almost 30 years, the chapter has received numerous awards and recognition from the cities of Galveston and Houston as well as the Clear Creek, Dickinson, LaMarque and Texas City Independent School Districts.  In 2019, GCAC received a Western Area monetary award to continue expanding our Signature Program "Money Management is a Family Affair an Ally Wallet Wise Collaboration Program".  Also in 2019, GCAC received a 1st place award for our Service to Youth "STEMulating Your Mind" STEAM/STEAM program. In addition, our chapter provides programming that include, but not limited to Art Appreciation, Mental Health Awareness, Women's Health Issues/Screening, and Aid to International Causes (Education Across the Mile, a GCAC Signature Program working with a school in Jamaica and  Women in Haiti).

As you browse through this website we hope you are excited about our rich history and our many contributions to our local and global communities, and that you would consider donating to our organization, so that we can continue to sustain these programs.  I also encourage you to follow us on social media; be sure to like and share!
