HeartLinks
The HeartLinks signature program encourages Links members and the communities we serve to take an aggressive stance against heart disease, the number one killer of African American women. HeartLinks accomplishes its goal by equipping our members with numerous ways to implement heart healthy programs and activities in their communities including our Walk for Healthy Living program, Childhood Obesity Prevention program, cardiovascular risk reduction programming, and Red Dress events.
Our Story
On March 15, 1991, organizers Alexis “Jackie” Bolden, Trudy Faulk, Louise Jefferson and B. Renee Stewart Jackson met with then immediate past Western Area Director, Link Edwina Higgins, to determine if there was sufficient interest in the southeast Texas Gulf Coast community stretching from Clear Lake southward toward Galveston, to establish a local chapter of the Links, Incorporated. These women shared similar interests and came from families and communities that had been impacted by The Links, Incorporated.
