“TOGETHER, WE LEAD”
On behalf of the officers and members of the Gulf Coast Apollo (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, we extend a warm welcome and sincere thanks for visiting our online platform.
We invite you to explore our website, where you will discover current information about our chapter—who we are and the impactful work we’re doing to uplift our communities throughout the Clear Lake, Galveston, Bay Area and beyond.
Founded in 1946, The Links, Incorporated is a distinguished international, not-for-profit organization. Our membership includes over 17,000 professional women of African descent, representing 299 chapters across 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom. As one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations, our members are dedicated to enriching, sustaining and advancing the cultural and economic well-being of African Americans and people of African ancestry. Built on the pillars of Service and Friendship, our organization collectively contributes more than one million service hours, in our communities, each year.

Chartered on October 7, 1995, the Gulf Coast Apollo (TX) Chapter (GCAC) became the 52nd chapter in the Western Area and the 262nd chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Our group of 51 accomplished women has brought together expertise from a wide range of professions. Our members include astronauts, attorneys, accountants, corporate leaders, engineers, physicians, project managers, educators, consultants, politicians, homemakers, scientists, social workers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and nonprofit executives—all united in delivering transformational, sustainable and meaningful
programs. These initiatives align with the five program facets of The Links, Incorporated: The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, Services to Youth and Health and Human Services.
For three decades, our chapter has earned numerous awards and recognitions from the cities of Galveston and Houston, as well as the Clear Creek, Dickinson, LaMarque and Texas City Independent School Districts. In 2019, GCAC received a Western Area monetary award to further our signature program, “Money Management is a Family Affair—an Ally Wallet Wise Collaboration Program.” That same year, we were honored with a first-place award for our Service to Youth – STEMulating Your Mind STEAM program. Our chapter also offers a variety of programs, including Art Appreciation, Mental Health Awareness, Women’s Health Issues and Screenings, and international outreach such as “Education Across the Mile,” a signature initiative supporting a school in Jamaica and women in Haiti. As you explore our website, we invite you to support our mission by making a donation,
which helps us continue delivering impactful programs and services throughout our communities. Your generosity directly contributes to our ability to uplift and empower others.
Additionally, we encourage you to connect with us on social media. By following, liking and sharing our content, you help extend our reach and amplify our message. Together, we lead and make an even greater impact in our communities.
